HelMet.fi will be remodeled in 2016. Remodeled site will be much easier to use with smartphones and tablet devices.
Site interface will be made responsive, in other words, screen view will automatically adjust to the devise being used.
At the same time the visual layout of HelMet.fi the will be remodeled. For example, HelMet-logo, font and color scheme will be remodeled. Identifying color will remain orange.
– Site platform will be more easily accessed for example with screen reader for the visually impaired. Also other accessibility improvements are under way and the development work will go on, says the chief editor Iina Soininen.
Remodeled site will be functional by early spring 2016. The new site will be demonstrated in more detail closer to the launching date.
The overall structure of the site will remain unchanged
The basic structure of the site will remain unchanged but the interface will be remodeled in a way that the most important functions and contents are more easily found and accessed. Other functions such as service and events searches have been developed and streamlined on the basis of customer responses and maintenance experiences. The technical implementation of the new site offers more flexibility as regards exhibiting site contents.
The content of the site will remain unchanged for the time being. The remodeling and renewal work will continue later on by developing the structure and contents of the site.
At this stage, only the so-called content pages including news, articles, library home pages etc. are remodeled. The remodeling does not include material search nor the customer account function which are package systems provided by an outside service provider.
